Rajasthan: In a shocking and disturbing incident, a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified man during a wedding event in the Dausa district of Rajasthan. The heinous crime came to light when the parents, upon returning home from the event on Thursday night, discovered bloodstains on the child’s clothes. The family immediately filed a police complaint, prompting an investigation into the grievous incident.

Police Investigation Underway

Upon receiving the complaint, an FIR was registered at the Mahila Thana in Dausa, initiating a comprehensive investigation into the matter. Umesh Chander Datta, Inspector General of Jaipur Range, provided an update on the case, revealing that the father of the minor girl had filed the complaint. He stated, “A medical check-up of the girl is being conducted, and forensic teams have also begun their probe. We are in the preliminary stage right now.” Datta further added that the girl’s condition is currently stable, with female police officers and other senior police officials present at the hospital.

Government’s Assurance of Swift Justice

Reacting to the horrifying incident, Rajasthan BJP leader Rajendra Rathore expressed the state government’s commitment to ensuring a fast-track trial in the case, with the goal of securing punishment for the accused. Rathore shared that the victim is currently admitted to the ICU and is gradually regaining consciousness.

This incident adds to the concerning trend of crimes against women, as highlighted by the recent data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). According to the NCRB report for 2022, there has been a significant increase in crimes against women, with 4,45,256 cases registered, indicating a four percent rise from the previous year. The data reveals that 250 women became victims of murder-cum-rape or gang rape across the nation in 2022.

Alarming Statistics: Rajasthan Tops in Recorded Rapes

The NCRB report specifically points out that Rajasthan recorded the highest number of rapes, reaching a staggering figure of 5,399. This disturbing statistic underscores the urgent need for concerted efforts to address and combat the rising incidents of sexual crimes, particularly those affecting minors. The society at large, along with law enforcement agencies, must work collaboratively to create a safer environment for women and children, ensuring justice and protection for the vulnerable.
