Kanpur: Two thieves chose an unconventional mode of transportation—horseback—as they attempted to rob the donation box at Radha Mohan temple near KDA Dharamshala in Barra-6, Kanpur.

The incident, which occurred on the night of December 20, was captured on CCTV cameras. The thieves, riding on horseback, approached the temple intending to make off with the donation box. However, their plans were thwarted by vigilant stray dogs who began barking loudly, alerting the neighborhood.

CCTV footage shows one of the thieves dismounting the horse and attempting to grab the donation box. Despite their efforts, the persistent barking of the dogs and the commotion woke up people in the vicinity. Fearing exposure, the thieves hastily got back on the horse and fled the scene.

The incident came to light on Sunday after a video of the attempted robbery went viral on social media. In the footage, one thief can be seen on horseback while the other tries to extract the secured donation box from the temple floor. Realizing the risk, they abandon their plan and make a quick escape.

The temple’s caretaker, Nikhil Soni, reported the incident to the police on December 21. Barra police station in-charge Dinesh Bisht confirmed that a complaint had been filed, and an investigation has been launched to apprehend the horse-riding thieves. The bizarre nature of the crime has captured the attention of locals and social media users alike.
