Kolkata : In a startling event, a 35-year-old man who had been sitting next to his mother’s body for the previous three days after locking his house door from inside was saved by the police on Saturday in the Hooghly district of West Bengal.

The issue was discovered when the mother and son pair’s apartment on Saturday began to smell bad, alarming the neighbors. After being notified, the youth was discovered by the police sitting silently next to his mother’s body when they broke down the apartment door.
The deceased has been identified as 65-year-old retired bank employee Kalyani Hazra, who passed away approximately three days ago. She once resided with his 35-year-old son Subhranil Hazra, who is thought to have a mental illness.
The police were informed by their neighbors and domestic help that the apartment door had been locked for the previous three days. Subhranil refused to let the domestic help in, even though she arrived every morning, saying his mother was sedated and sleeping.
The neighbours also told the police that both the mother and son were pretty unsocial and rarely interacted with the local people. Even the neighbours have hardly noticed any visitor coming to their residence.
