CCB police nab person selling fake Remdesivir in Mysuru

Mysuru: The Mysuru CCB police have arrested the accused related to the fake Remdesivir drug sales network and seized cash and counterfeit drugs here on Monday, April 19.

Girish, a staff nurse at JSS Hospital of Mysuru, and his accomplices Shivappa, Mangala, Manjunath, and Prashant have been arrested. Rs 2.82 lakh cash and more than 800 Remdesivir counterfeit drug bottles were seized.

The accused, Girish, prepared a fake vaccine using an antibiotic called Septriaxone and Normal Saline. He was making a fake Remdesivir drug at the cost of Rs 100 and selling it for Rs 4,000.

At the press conference, the city Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta said that “the fake drug network was discovered when CCB police were investigating the sale of Remdesivir due to the surge coronavirus cases in the city”.

The investigation revealed that Girish, who has been working as a staff nurse at JSS Hospital for the past 11 years, used to fill a fake drug to empty Remdesivir bottles and sell them. The counterfeit drug was being sold to medical representatives Prashant and Manjunath.
