Mysuru: Karnataka Zoo Authority (KZA) president L.R. Mahadeva Swamy said that the authority planning to conduct Rapid Antigen Test in all the zoos of the State for visitors.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday June 23 he said that Belgavi, Hampi and Gadag mini zoos were opened for public. The famous Mysuru Chamaraja Zoo will also be opened for public once the lockdown is lifted.
He said KZA received Rs 2.92 crores contribution from people for adopting animals, followed by appeal by cine star Darshan. The KZA received Rs. 1.94 crores through apps and Rs 97.99 lakhs by direct payments. He said all the contributors will get certificates from Darshan.
“KZA received Rs. 58.84 lakhs income during 2018-19, Rs 66.49 lakhs during year 2019-20 and received just 24.25 lakhs income in the year 2020-21. “KZA would like to extend gratitude to actor Darshan and Mysuru district S.T. Somashekar for being pivotal in mobilising funds Rs. 3.5 crores during last year pandemic.
He said all workers of Zoo undergo Covid tests frequently, they are sanitised every time while entering animal rooms and wearing mask is compulsory. He said all precautionary steps taken at the zoo by sanitising three times a day to ensure safety of animals.
