Mysuru: M. V. Vasantha Kumari (88), a former All India Radio officer, passed away due to age-related ailment in a private hospital in Mangaluru on Saturday June 19.
Between 1958 and 1991, she worked as an officer at All India Radio stations in Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai.
She Vasantha Kumari loved music and has written a number of features for All India Radio. M. V Vasantha Kumari was crucial in gaining approval for the saxophone as a classical music instrument on All India Radio.
Vasantha Kumari, who was proficient in Kannada, English, and Sanskrit, wrote independent literary works such as ‘Swatantra Bharatada Rashtrapatigalu’ and ‘Sri Krishna Charitamrita,’ as well as translated works such as ‘Sri Valmiki Ramayana Sundarakanda,’ ‘Asian Food Therapy,’ ‘Astavyasta Badukina Striyaru,’ and ‘The Spiritual Heritage of Tyagaraj.
