At least 16 children were injured after a school vehicle overturned near Habbanaguppe village in Periyapatna taluk on Tuesday. The vehicle, which belonged to Nobel School in Kampalapur, reportedly lost control and fell into a ditch following a front tire puncture.
The accident triggered panic among locals and school staff. Immediate rescue operations were launched, and the children were rushed to hospitals in Hunsur and Mysuru for medical attention.
After receiving initial treatment at Hunsur, several of the more seriously injured children were transferred to Mysore for advanced care.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident, while concerned parents and residents are calling for stricter safety checks on school transport vehicles.
