Mysuru: Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers staged a protest outside the deputy commissioner’s office in Mysuru on Wednesday, demanding that the Karnataka government fulfill its promise of increasing their monthly honorarium to ₹10,000.
The protesters raised slogans against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accusing him of failing to implement the honorarium hike he announced in the state budget. They recalled that during their previous protest (January 7-10), the CM assured them the hike would take effect from April 1. However, they alleged that the official order is yet to be issued.
ASHA workers, who play a crucial role in public healthcare, have been persistently demanding better pay and recognition for their services. Their protest highlights the growing unrest over delayed government commitments regarding welfare measures.
