Mysuru: A section of concerned citizens has urged Karnataka Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah to hold a press conference and present a clear vision for Mysuru’s future development, citing delays in several key infrastructure projects across the city and surrounding areas.

The appeal was made on Thursday through social media, where residents highlighted the need for greater public communication and accountability regarding major projects that have been announced or sanctioned for Mysuru.

Citizens seek clarity on major infrastructure projects

In a post shared on X, a citizen operating under the account “Voice of Mysuru” called upon Yathindra Siddaramaiah, currently the only minister representing the Mysuru region in the state cabinet, to outline his priorities for the city’s growth and infrastructure development.

The appeal focused on several high-profile projects that are expected to shape Mysuru’s urban expansion in the coming years. These include the proposed Greater Mysuru City Corporation, the Metropole–Yelwal signal-free corridor with provisions for a future metro line, a 2,000-acre residential layout at Bommenahalli, the Peripheral Ring Road project, expansion of Mysuru Airport, the Hale Undavadi drinking water scheme and the extension of white-topping works across major roads.

According to residents, delays in issuing the notification have affected the functioning of certain Town Panchayats and Gram Panchayats, leading to administrative challenges and slowing approvals for new construction projects in peripheral areas.
