Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) is seeking contributions from associations, organizations, private companies, and individuals to support the development of city parks through its ‘Namma Mysuru-Namma Koduge’ (My Mysuru, My Contribution) Scheme. This initiative aims to enhance and maintain the city’s 529 parks, of which 234 are currently undeveloped.

Under the scheme, interested parties can adopt parks and contribute to their beautification and upkeep. Participants will work under the supervision of MCC horticulture officers and must adhere to several conditions:

  • Development Supervision: Parks must be developed with guidance from MCC horticulture officers.
  • Waste Management: Waste generated must be composted and used as manure for park plants, at the adopter’s expense.
  • Event Restrictions: No private meetings, workshops, or functions are allowed without MCC permission.
  • Park Preservation: Parks must not be renamed, and all features should be maintained without damage.
  • Vendor Restrictions: Space in the parks cannot be rented out to vendors.

The adoption agreement will initially be for 11 months, with the possibility of extension based on maintenance quality. P.K. Mohan Kumar, Assistant Executive Engineer of the MCC Horticulture Division, stressed the importance of collaboration in developing the undeveloped parks and noted that while some companies have expressed interest, further private partnerships are needed to fully realize the scheme’s potential.
