Mysuru: The Cauvery basin has received ample rainfall, leading to the rapid filling of reservoirs in the region. Kabini Reservoir has already reached its full capacity, and much water is being released into the river. Krishnarajasagar Reservoir in Mandya district is expected to fill up soon, with over 45,000 cusecs of water flowing in. Goruru Hemavati Reservoir in Hassan and Yagachi Reservoir near Belur are also nearing full capacity.
As the water level in KRS Dam approaches 120 feet, authorities are preparing to release water into the Cauvery River, prompting DC Dr Kumar to issue a flood alert. 92 villages in the Kaveri River character area have been identified as potentially affected by floods. Officials have been instructed to personally visit these villages and ensure necessary precautionary measures are in place.
The authorities are taking proactive steps to mitigate potential flood risks, and residents in the affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and follow instructions from the authorities. The situation is being closely monitored, and updates will be provided as necessary.
