Mysuru: As part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades, the South Western Railway (SWR) Mysuru Division has commenced renovation work on the staircases of the foot overbridge connecting platforms 2 and 3 at Mysuru Railway Station. The overhaul, aimed at boosting both passenger safety and comfort, is expected to continue for the next 60 days starting Saturday.
Girish Dharmaraj Kalagonda, Divisional Commercial Manager and Public Relations Officer for SWR Mysuru Division, stated that the current staircases, built several decades ago, have started to deteriorate. He noted the urgent need to reinforce and modernise these structures to comply with present-day safety norms.
To ease passenger flow during the construction period, alternative arrangements have been put in place. Commuters are encouraged to use the available elevators and the pedestrian subway to move between platforms and access services.
Kalagonda assured that the station is equipped with clear direction boards, frequent announcements, and support from station personnel to help travelers navigate the changes with minimal disruption.
The SWR has prioritised passenger convenience during this renovation phase, urging all users to cooperate with temporary adjustments for long-term improvements in infrastructure and safety.
Railway authorities have also requested passengers to plan extra time for movement within the station to avoid last-minute rush and ensure a smoother travel experience.
