In a significant development, Karnataka announces the full implementation of the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) on the Bengaluru-Mysuru road network starting July 1.
Alok Kumar, ADGP for Traffic and Road Safety, Karnataka, revealed that the ITMS, initially introduced in Bengaluru, will now extend across Mysuru with 250 ANPR cameras and 80 RLVD cameras installed. This expansion, costing Rs 8.5 crore, aims to enhance traffic monitoring and enforcement, covering key areas like Hunsur, HD Kote, Nanjangud, and T Narasipur.
Furthermore, plans include installing ITMS cameras on major highways like Tumakuru Road (NH 4), Kanakapura Road (NH 948), Hosur Road (NH 44), and NH 75, alongside Variable Messaging Signs (VMS) to provide real-time traffic updates and alerts to commuters.
The integration of ITMS with FASTag for seamless challaning at toll gates and procurement of additional enforcement tools signify Karnataka’s commitment to modernizing road safety measures.
