In a significant move to enhance infrastructure in government educational institutions across Karnataka, the State Cabinet has announced several key decisions.

During a press conference following the Cabinet meeting, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil disclosed that free power and water would be provided to all 46,829 Government schools and 1,434 PU Colleges in the State. Previously, these costs were covered by SDMCs (School Development Management Committees), amounting to an annual expenditure of Rs. 29.19 crore, which will now be borne by the government. This initiative aims to alleviate financial burdens on educational institutions and promote better learning environments.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved a budget allocation of Rs. 297.77 crore for the development of universities and comprehensive personality development programs for students in state-run residential schools, in collaboration with Rotary Club. These decisions mark a concerted effort towards improving educational facilities and opportunities for students in Karnataka.
