In a shocking act of disrespect, miscreants vandalized a portrait of Kempegowda, the founder of Bengaluru, in Hanchya village on the outskirts of Mysuru.

According to local sources, the incident took place at Kempegowda Circle, where a portrait board had been displayed to honor his legacy. Late at night, unidentified individuals deliberately broke the portrait, leaving the pieces scattered on the ground.

When the damage was discovered, villagers quickly gathered at the site. Many expressed outrage over the act, calling it an insult to Kannada pride and heritage. They raised slogans condemning the perpetrators and demanded their immediate arrest.

One resident said, “Kempegowda is a symbol of our history. Damaging his portrait is an attack on our culture and identity.”

Following the uproar, a police team arrived at the spot and conducted an inspection. Officials assured the villagers that the incident would be treated seriously and promised to identify and apprehend those responsible at the earliest.

The incident has stirred strong emotions in the area, with local leaders appealing for calm while urging authorities to ensure such acts are not repeated.
