In a coordinated crackdown, Maharashtra Police, in collaboration with the Mysuru City Police, dismantled an illegal MDMA (Ecstasy) manufacturing lab in Mysuru on Saturday. The high-stakes operation led to the seizure of a large quantity of banned synthetic drugs and the arrest of four suspects, who have been taken to Mumbai for further interrogation.

According to police insiders, the facility was actively involved in the production of MDMA, a potent psychoactive drug prohibited under the NDPS Act. The raid stemmed from vital intelligence gathered after a prior arrest by Mumbai police, which eventually traced the supply chain to the Mysuru unit.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara, addressing the media from Davangere on Sunday, confirmed the breakthrough. “This is highly disturbing. A drug manufacturing setup was discovered in Mysuru through joint action by Mumbai and local police. Arrests have been made,” he stated.

He emphasized that, although the initial lead came from Maharashtra, the Karnataka police will conduct a detailed parallel inquiry. Authorities aim to determine how long the unit was operational, if its activity exceeded the estimated 20-day window, and where the drugs were being supplied.

In a separate development, Bengaluru police launched a sudden operation across 13 North Division police station limits, questioning 106 individuals, including known offenders and drug users, as part of a wider anti-narcotics crackdown across Karnataka.
