Mysuru: A man who had gone to the South Rural Police Station in Mysore for questioning related to a family dispute ended up being assaulted by his wife and her relatives inside the station premises. The victim, identified as Shankar, sustained injuries during the attack.
The incident occurred after Shankar filed a complaint against his son amid ongoing domestic tensions. While he was present at the station for an inquiry, his wife Manjula, accompanied by her parents Thimmegowda and Chaudamma, arrived at the scene.
According to reports, a heated argument ensued, during which Manjula allegedly struck Shankar on the head with a chair and also caused an injury to his wrist. The assault, taking place within the police premises, stunned those present and prompted further legal action.
Following the incident, Shankar lodged a formal complaint at Nazarabad Police Station, naming Manjula, Thimmegowda, and Chaudamma as the accused. A case has been registered against all three for the alleged assault.
Police are investigating the matter and are expected to record statements from all parties involved. Authorities have also expressed concern over physical altercations occurring inside a police station, calling for better enforcement of security protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future.
