Mysuru: A man was allegedly dragged for nearly 500 metres on the bonnet of a moving car following a dispute over repayment of money in Mysuru. The incident, which was captured on camera and later circulated widely on social media, has drawn attention after visuals showed the man holding onto the front of a moving vehicle while it travelled through a busy stretch of the city.
Dispute reportedly began over repayment of money
According to preliminary information, the incident stemmed from a financial dispute between two individuals identified as Mahadev and Dhananjay.
Police sources said Mahadev had allegedly lent money to Dhananjay and later approached him seeking repayment. During their interaction, an argument reportedly broke out between the two and gradually intensified.
Officials stated that the disagreement escalated into a confrontation, leading to a dramatic sequence of events that unfolded on a busy public road.
Man seen clinging to moving vehicle
According to initial reports, Dhananjay allegedly attempted to leave the spot in his red Maruti Suzuki Baleno as tensions increased.
In an effort to stop him, Mahadev reportedly jumped onto the bonnet of the vehicle and held onto the front portion of the car.
However, instead of stopping, the driver allegedly continued driving with Mahadev still clinging to the bonnet.
Visuals of the incident reportedly showed the vehicle moving along the route from the Sub-Registrar’s office near Andolana Circle towards the Kuvempunagar Police Station road.
Witnesses said the vehicle continued moving for nearly 500 metres while the man remained hanging from the front of the car.
Viral footage draws public attention
Videos of the incident later surfaced on social media platforms and gained widespread attention.
The footage sparked concern among members of the public over the dangerous circumstances under which the incident occurred.
Road users and bystanders were reportedly seen reacting as the vehicle moved through the crowded stretch.
The incident has also raised concerns regarding public safety and reckless conduct on city roads.
Police begin inquiry into incident
Police have initiated an inquiry into the matter and are examining the available footage as part of the investigation.
