Mysuru: A 24-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband in Mysuru in the early hours of Thursday, following a history of marital discord and suspicion over her fidelity. The accused has been arrested by the NR police.

Incident at Old Kesare residence

The victim, identified as Pushpa (24), was attacked with a sickle at the couple’s residence in Old Kesare. Police said the incident occurred during the pre-dawn hours, around 4:00 am.

The accused, Mahesh, who works at a bar, allegedly assaulted his wife during a heated argument, leading to her death on the spot.

Marital discord and suspicion

According to police officials, the couple had been married for about one-and-a-half years but had been facing frequent conflicts since their marriage.

Pushpa worked at a beauty parlour, and Mahesh reportedly suspected her fidelity, often questioning her for returning home late from work. These suspicions are believed to have led to repeated arguments between the two.

Argument escalates into violence

On Wednesday night, the couple reportedly got into an argument over a domestic issue while having dinner. The disagreement is said to have continued until around 11:00 pm before they went to sleep.

However, the argument resumed in the early hours of Thursday. In a fit of rage, Mahesh allegedly attacked Pushpa with a sickle, inflicting fatal injuries.

Police confirmed that Pushpa died at the scene.

Arrest and investigation

NR police have arrested Mahesh on charges of murder. A senior police officer stated that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
