Mysuru: Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji of Avadhoota Datta Peetham has announced a grand mass collective Hanuman Chalisa recitation programme at the Maharaja’s College Grounds in Mysuru on February 14, aimed at promoting universal peace and spiritual harmony. The large-scale devotional event is expected to draw thousands of participants from across Karnataka.

The Swamiji said the programme is designed to bring together devotees in a unified prayer dedicated to Lord Hanuman, emphasising the spiritual strength of collective chanting. The celebrations will extend across February 14 and 15, featuring multiple spiritual activities linked to the Mahashivaratri period.

Organisers said this will be the first such mega Hanuman Chalisa mass recitation event in Mysuru since 2016.

Two-day spiritual programme planned

Addressing media representatives, Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji said the event will include a series of devotional and cultural programmes alongside the collective chanting.

The two-day schedule will feature mass Hanuman Chalisa recitation, Shivaratri Maha Jagarane, Girija Kalyana, and other group chanting sessions connected with the upcoming Mahashivaratri festival. Devotees, bhajan groups, and spiritual volunteers from different districts are expected to participate.

Arrangements are being made at the Maharaja’s College Grounds to accommodate large crowds, with organisers coordinating logistics, seating, sound systems, and volunteer support.

Focus on Sulalitha Kannada version

A special feature of the programme will be the recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa in Sulalitha Kannada, a simplified Kannada rendering intended to make the hymn more accessible to a wider audience.

Organisers said the simplified version enables children, youth, and first-time participants to join the chanting more easily. Printed booklets and digital display support are expected to be provided at the venue to help participants follow the verses.

The Swamiji noted that the Hanuman Chalisa, composed by Saint Tulsidas, is regarded as a powerful and simple stotra that can be chanted by people of all ages without complex ritual requirements.

Inspired by earlier record event

Recalling a similar large-scale Hanuman Chalisa chanting event held earlier in Tenali, which drew record participation, Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji expressed confidence that the Mysuru gathering would also witness an overwhelming devotional response.

He said such programmes demonstrate how collective spiritual practice can build social unity and shared positive intent. According to him, mass chanting events create a strong devotional atmosphere and encourage community participation beyond institutional boundaries.

Volunteers from Avadhoota Datta Peetham are mobilising devotees through outreach networks, temples, and spiritual groups across the state.

Linked to Mahashivaratri significance

The Swamiji highlighted that the timing of the event — just ahead of Mahashivaratri — adds spiritual significance. He noted that Lord Hanuman is traditionally regarded in many scriptures as an aspect of Lord Shiva and also the foremost devotee of Lord Rama.

He said the programme will therefore symbolically connect devotion to both Shiva and Rama traditions through Hanuman worship and chanting.

Citing references from the Puranas and devotional literature, he emphasised that prayers offered collectively are believed to amplify spiritual intent and positive outcomes.

Significance of February 14 date

Explaining the selection of February 14 for the main mass recitation, the Swamiji said the date is associated in certain devotional traditions with the sacred union of Sita and Lord Rama. He said this association makes the day spiritually appropriate for Hanuman devotion, given Hanuman’s central place in the Ramayana tradition.

Organisers said the programme is open to all devotees and members of the public, regardless of institutional affiliation, and participation will be voluntary.

Conclusion

With thousands expected to gather at the Maharaja’s College Grounds, the planned mass Hanuman Chalisa recitation led by Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji is set to become one of the largest recent devotional gatherings in the city. Framed around peace, unity, and collective prayer, the two-day event will combine traditional chanting with accessible language formats to encourage broad participation.
