Mysore/Mysuru: With the recent break in rains, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has initiated an extensive pothole filling campaign across all nine zones of the city. The roads, riddled with potholes and craters, have been a significant problem for motorists, frequently reported in local newspapers. This prompted MCC Engineers to conduct a thorough survey and prepare cost estimates for the necessary repairs.
Acting on the instructions of MCC Commissioner Ashaad-Ur-Rahman Shariff, an e-tender was called, resulting in the appointment of one contractor per zone under the supervision of MCC Superintending Engineer K.J. Sindhu. The project, with a total budget of Rs. 90 lakh (Rs. 10 lakh allocated per zone), was funded from the MCC’s general grants. Contractors commenced work on Friday, as confirmed by Sindhu.
To ensure timely completion and high-quality work, MCC Zonal Officers and Engineers from all nine zones have been tasked with overseeing the pothole filling operations. They are required to supervise the contractors closely and submit progress reports. The MCC Superintending Engineer emphasized that all Zonal Officers would be visiting the repair sites to monitor the work’s quality.
The MCC aims to complete these repairs before the onset of Ashada next month, ensuring smoother and safer roads for Mysuru’s motorists.
