Mysuru: Mudit Mittal, a senior officer from the Indian Railways Accounts Service (IRAS), officially took charge as the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Mysuru Division, South Western Railway (SWR) on Monday. He succeeds Shilpi Agarwal, under whose tenure the division saw major infrastructure improvements and public-focused developments.

Mittal, a 1996-batch IRAS officer, is an electronics and communication engineering graduate from IIT Roorkee. He also holds a master’s degree in public administration from the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, according to a press release.

His professional journey spans across key railway zones in Hubballi, Mumbai, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Gorakhpur, and Delhi. Prior to this role, he served as Executive Director (Finance) at Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), the infrastructure development wing under the Railway Ministry.

Beyond his core expertise in finance and accounts, Mittal has held several influential administrative positions. These include Chief Public Relations Officer of West Central Railway and Director of the Seventh Central Pay Commission.

Under Shilpi Agarwal’s stewardship, the division achieved notable milestones—Ashokapuram station’s development, remodelling of yards at various locations, significant progress in station redevelopment, and a strong emphasis on employee welfare initiatives.

As he steps into this new leadership role, Mittal is expected to carry forward the division’s development momentum while leveraging his extensive administrative and financial background.
