Mysuru: Ahead of the Gowri-Ganesha festival on September 14, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), Mysuru Regional Office, has announced the schedule for Ganesha idol immersion in mobile tanks at multiple locations across the city.
The arrangements are aimed at facilitating the immersion of idols at designated locations during the festival. Mobile tanks will be available at several points between 4 pm and 10.30 pm on September 14, while a separate mass Ganesha idol immersion procession has been scheduled for September 20.
Mobile immersion tanks at multiple locations
According to the schedule, mobile immersion tanks will be stationed at three routes covering several parts of Mysuru.
The first route will cover Metagalli Police Station, K.D. Circle in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage, Mathrumandali Circle and the main entrance of Kukkarahalli Lake.
The tanks will be available from 4 pm to 5.15 pm near Metagalli Police Station, 5.30 pm to 6.45 pm at K.D. Circle, 7 pm to 8.15 pm at Mathrumandali Circle and 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm at the main entrance of Kukkarahalli Lake.
The second route will cover Vikram Hospital in Yadavagiri, Shantala Theatre, Chamundipuram Circle and the main entrance of Karanji Lake.
Here too, the mobile tanks will operate in successive time slots from 4 pm until 10.30 pm.
The third route will cover Jayamma Govindegowda Kalyana Mantapa in Kuvempunagar, Jayanagar Railway Gate, Gobbali Mara Bus Stand in J.P. Nagar and the main gate of Lingambudhi Lake via Srirampura.
Residents can use the designated locations and timings for idol immersion during the festival.
Immersion arrangements spread across Mysuru
The mobile tank arrangement provides residents with designated points for immersing Ganesha idols instead of relying on a single location.
The KSPCB’s Mysuru Regional Office has provided contact numbers for residents seeking details about the arrangements. A.M. Siddaiah can be contacted for the first route, Shivanna for the second and H.C. Lakshman for the third route.
The schedule allows the immersion activity to be spread across different parts of the city, potentially making it more convenient for residents during the festival.
23rd mass Ganesha immersion procession
Meanwhile, preparations are also underway for the 23rd mass Ganesha idol immersion procession organised by the Sarvajanika Ganesha Visarjana Samithi.
Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar launched the publicity vehicle and posters for the procession in front of the Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple on September 12. BJP leaders and members of the Samithi were present during the programme.
Yaduveer also handed over saffron flags and pasted Ganeshotsava stickers on more than 25 autorickshaws that have been deployed for publicity of the procession.
Procession to begin on September 20
The mass procession will begin from Veeraganapathi Temple in Veeranagere at 1.45 pm on September 20.
The event is expected to bring together devotees and public participants as idols are taken out for the mass immersion programme. The publicity campaign has already begun with vehicles carrying information about the procession moving through the city.
The separate mobile-tank arrangements on September 14 and the mass immersion procession on September 20 provide residents with different options for participating in the city’s Ganeshotsava celebrations.
Eco-conscious festival arrangements
With designated immersion facilities being made available at multiple locations, residents are encouraged to use the arrangements provided by the authorities for idol immersion.
The mobile tanks also provide an organised alternative for residents looking to immerse idols as part of the September 14 celebrations. The arrangements come as Mysuru prepares for the Gowri-Ganesha festival, with authorities and civic agencies coordinating facilities across the city.
