Following a food poisoning incident at a Malavalli school hostel that resulted in two child fatalities and 30 hospitalizations, Mysuru District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) N.T. Yogesh has banned external food in all Child Care Institutions (CCIs).
The directive applies to 28 private (NGO-run) and 3 government CCIs in the district. It enforces strict kitchen hygiene, supervised meal preparation, and high-quality food and water standards.
DCPO Yogesh warned of legal action for non-compliance and announced regular inspections with Child Welfare Committee (CWC) officials to ensure adherence.
Mysuru district has 31 CCIs housing 320 children. With exams over, some children have returned home, reducing hostel occupancy.
