Mysuru: The Mysuru Dasara Drone Show has entered the Guinness World Records after 3,473 drones came together to create a giant dancing peacock in the night sky above the Torchlight Parade Ground in Bannimantap on October 18.
The display earned the record for the largest aerial display of a bird formed using multirotors or drones, making it a landmark moment for the Mysuru Dasara celebrations and India’s growing drone-show industry.
The peacock, India’s national bird, was the centrepiece of the spectacular formation, which drew large crowds to the venue. The synchronised display transformed the night sky into a large-scale visual presentation using thousands of drones.
CESC and BotLab Dynamics organise record-setting show
According to ANI, the show was organised by Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) and executed by BotLab Dynamics, a company incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.
The record-setting formation demonstrated how drone technology can be used to create large, coordinated aerial displays at major public events. The peacock formation was designed to celebrate India’s national bird while adding a technological attraction to the annual festival.
The Torchlight Parade Ground witnessed large crowds during the first two evenings of the drone shows, with spectators gathering both inside and outside the venue to watch the displays.
Fifth consecutive year at Mysuru Dasara
Drone shows have become a popular feature of Mysuru Dasara, attracting families, tourists and enthusiasts interested in aerial technology. BotLab Dynamics has been conducting drone shows at the festival every year since 2022, making the 2026 edition its fifth consecutive year.
The continued presence of the shows has added a contemporary element to the traditional festivities, which draw visitors to Mysuru from across Karnataka and other parts of the country.
The use of thousands of drones in a single formation also highlighted the scale of coordination required to produce a synchronised aerial spectacle. The Guinness World Records recognition brought further attention to the event and the technology behind it.
BotLab Dynamics founder calls it a proud moment
Dr Sarita Ahlawat, founder and managing director of BotLab Dynamics, said the large crowds gathered inside and outside the venue demonstrated the connection the show had established with the public.
She described the creation of a world-record formation of India’s national bird using Indian-made drones for the people of Karnataka as a proud moment for the team.
The achievement also highlighted the role of Indian technology companies in developing drone-based entertainment for large public gatherings. By combining technology with a recognisable national symbol, the display offered spectators a distinctive attraction during the Dasara festivities.
The record-setting performance added another highlight to Mysuru Dasara 2026, blending the city’s celebrated festival traditions with a large-scale technological spectacle.
