Mysore/Mysuru: In response to the devastating landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, which have claimed numerous lives and displaced many, the Mysuru District Administration is stepping up to offer assistance. Under the direction of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the district has mobilized resources and established a Disaster Management Room (DMR) at the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) main office.

The initiative, led by the Deputy Commissioner and supported by donations, involves collecting essential items and equipment to aid those affected by the disaster. MCC Zone-3 Commissioner T.S. Sathyamurthy and Revenue Officer M. Basavanna have been appointed as Nodal Officers for the DMR. They are coordinating the collection and dispatch of relief materials.

Nodal Officer Sathyamurthy has clarified that while there is no current need for food items, donations of steel cutters, gas cutters, stretchers, beds, industrial lights, torches, raincoats, sweaters, jerkins, and bed sheets are being sought. These items will be sent to Wayanad to support rescue and recovery efforts.

To date, MCC Zone-3 officials have gathered four steel cutters valued at Rs. 40,000, while Zone-2 has contributed 1,100 hand gloves and 1,050 masks. The Joint Director of the Department of Commerce and Industries has provided 2,040 napkins, 504 hand sanitizers, 1,000 masks, 288 gumboots, and 1,008 hand gloves. Additionally, Amigo Hyper Market has donated two gas cutters, and businessman Narasimhegowda has contributed a steel cutting machine.
