Mysuru: JSS Medical College, in partnership with the Organisation for Rare Diseases India (ORDI), organized the 10th edition of the ‘Race for 7’ Walk on Sunday. The initiative aimed to highlight the challenges faced by individuals with rare diseases and push for better diagnosis, treatment, and policy support.

Dr. B. Manjunatha, Registrar of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), inaugurated the event at Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple, near the North Gate of Mysuru Palace.

The 7km walk, symbolizing over 7,000 rare diseases, saw enthusiastic participation from medical professionals, students, and activists, reinforcing the importance of early detection and accessible healthcare for those battling rare conditions.

Among the key dignitaries present were Dr. Mallika, Deputy Director of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Yogatma Srihari D, a renowned yoga guru from GSSS Mysuru, and Dr. Deepa, a genetic counselor.

Over the years, ‘Race for 7’ has evolved into a crucial movement, encouraging community involvement and policy advocacy to improve the lives of people with rare diseases.
