Mysuru: A 47-year-old man from Mysuru has been arrested by Delhi Police for allegedly sending over 1,000 hoax messages and emails to courts, government offices, and key institutions across India.
The accused, identified as Srinivas Louis, was taken into custody from his rented accommodation in Mysuru on Monday. He has been remanded to six days of police custody for further interrogation.
Motive linked to family land dispute
According to police sources, the accused harboured deep resentment towards the judicial system due to a prolonged land dispute involving his father in Mysuru. The dispute reportedly centred around denial of his father’s share in a property case.
Investigators said this personal grievance led Louis to develop hostility towards courts, eventually prompting him to target judicial institutions with hoax communications.
Educated background and technical skills
Police revealed that Louis had studied law and had qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET). He had also worked as an Assistant Professor, indicating a strong academic background.
Despite this, he allegedly used his knowledge and technical skills to evade law enforcement. Most of the emails and messages were sent from his mobile phone, with the accused reportedly adept at masking his IP address, making it difficult for authorities to trace him.
Widespread targeting across institutions
The Accused is accused of sending repeated hoax emails to multiple High Courts, government departments, and even the Supreme Court of India.
Sources said he would send messages multiple times a day to different locations simultaneously. The emails were composed in both Kannada and English, increasing their reach and impact.
In addition to targeting institutions within India, he also reportedly sent messages to locations in Pakistan, further complicating the investigation.
Frequent relocation to avoid arrest
Driven by fear of apprehension, Louis frequently changed his place of residence to avoid detection. Police said he lived with his mother and kept a low profile despite his extensive activities.
The arrest was made following sustained technical surveillance and a detailed investigation by Delhi Police.
Device seizure and ongoing probe
Police teams have returned to Mysuru to seize the mobile phone and other digital devices used in the alleged offences. These devices are expected to provide crucial evidence and help determine the full extent of his activities.
Officials stated that a comprehensive investigation is underway to identify all targets, assess the impact of the hoax messages, and verify whether others were involved.
Conclusion
The arrest of Srinivas Louis marks a significant breakthrough in a case involving widespread disruption through hoax communications. Authorities are now focused on uncovering further details and ensuring accountability, while also strengthening measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
