In a significant breakthrough, Mysuru district police successfully retrieved and returned valuables worth ₹2.06 crore to rightful owners. These assets, recovered from 134 solved cases, brought relief to those who had lost them.
Between July 2023 and January 2024, police registered 1,279 cases under the leadership of SP N Vishnuvardhana, cracking 255 of them. Of the total ₹28.72 crore worth of stolen or missing property, ₹3.96 crore has been recovered.
Recovered assets include gold (2.4 kg), silver (4.36 kg), cash (₹42.36 lakh), and vehicles such as cars, bikes, autos, tractors, and construction equipment. Additionally, electronic gadgets, domestic animals, and 90 mobile phones were traced through the CEIR portal since October 2024.
In major crime investigations, police solved two murder-for-gain cases and recovered assets worth ₹4,240. They also cracked three out of four dacoity cases, retrieving valuables worth ₹40.9 lakh. Extortion and chain-snatching cases led to the recovery of jewelry and cash, while house thefts saw valuables worth ₹1.27 crore returned.
During a special event at DAR Parade Ground, Mysuru, SP Vishnuvardhana, alongside ASPs Mallik and Nagesh, officially handed over the recovered items. Among the recipients, Kodi Narayanaswamy, a priest, was overjoyed to reclaim over 400-year-old metal idols.
