The Mysuru district administration has taken a significant step under the Sakala scheme, aiming to deliver government services faster than the stipulated time. As a pilot initiative, the district is now processing revenue department services like caste certificates, income certificates, and family tree certificates within a single day.
Currently, 33 ‘nada kacheris’ (revenue offices) are operational across the district. Under this plan, if an applicant submits all necessary documents, officials will ensure same-day processing instead of the standard seven working days mandated by the Sakala Act.
According to ADC P Shivaraju, who oversees the district-level Sakala implementation, the pilot project has received a positive response, with many officials actively issuing certificates within a day. These documents are crucial for students applying for scholarships and courses, as well as youth preparing for competitive exams.
The initiative aims to improve efficiency and reduce delays, benefiting the public significantly. However, the Sakala dashboard reveals that 3,011 applications are still pending beyond the deadline, making Mysuru one of the highest backlog districts. If all departments adopt this approach, services could be streamlined, bringing faster relief to citizens.
