Mysuru: The Bidadi-Mysuru CNG pipeline project is nearing its completion, with 80% of the work done, according to Brajesh Singh, Senior VP & Zonal Head of AG&P Pratham. The remaining work is expected to be finished in three to four months, significantly improving the supply of CNG to Mysuru and neighboring districts.

Singh praised Karnataka’s city gas supply policy, indicating a potential partnership with state transport corporations to convert diesel buses to CNG, citing both cost and environmental benefits. Highlighting the growing demand for CNG in Mysuru, Singh reported a 45,000 cubic metres consumption, with demand increasing by 1.5 to 2 times annually. The supply extends beyond Mysuru, reaching Chamarajanagar and key industrial areas like Kadakola, Hebbal, and others along the Mysuru ring road.

The company is also expanding its infrastructure in major industrial hubs like Nanjangud, Hootagalli, and Metagalli to promote the use of natural gas. Singh dismissed concerns about electric vehicles (EVs) replacing CNG, emphasizing that various auto fuels would continue to coexist. He expressed gratitude for government support, which has facilitated the approval of a 300km PNG pipeline across Mysuru city.

Looking ahead, Singh expressed hope for converting state-run diesel buses into CNG buses, following the lead of other states, to achieve both environmental and operational advantages.
