Mysuru: Excel Public School has once again proven its innovation prowess by securing national recognition for the sixth year in a row at the School Innovation Marathon (SIM), India’s largest innovation contest for school students. Grade 10 students, Shruthakeerthi V and Aditi V, earned mentorship and a grant of ₹82,221 from the Ministry of Education for their sustainable cooking solution, Agnipath.

Agnipath is a specially designed flame guide system that improves gas stove efficiency by enhancing heat utilization and reducing LPG consumption. Developed over 4.5 months with support from mentor Gopinath Subramaniam of Excelsoft Technologies, the project targets street food vendors, helping them save on fuel costs—up to 13.6% in testing.

The duo began by interviewing vendors to identify cooking inefficiencies, then engineered a prototype at the school’s Innovation Centre using heat-insulating materials. They are now preparing to expand testing and launch two commercial variants priced at ₹5,000 and ₹7,000 by August 2026 via retail and online platforms.

Principal Mathew K G praised the students’ work, calling it a “blend of technical innovation and social impact.” Chairman Sudhanva D highlighted EPS’s growing reputation as an incubator for youth innovation, boasting 300+ student-led projects to date.

With a 7,000 sq. ft. Innovation Centre and a curriculum integrating STEM, AI, IoT, and robotics, Excel Public School continues to lead Mysuru’s rise as a national hub for student-led solutions.
