Mysuru: Only 78,750 out of more than 2.10 lakh properties within Mysuru city limits have received electronic property records (e-Khatas), accounting for approximately 38% of the total, according to the latest figures shared by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC).
Urban Development and Mysuru District In-charge Minister Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah has directed MCC officials to launch a special campaign to ensure the timely issuance of building permits, similar to the ongoing e-Khata distribution drive.
The Minister was speaking after inaugurating a special public service e-Khata distribution programme at the MCC premises on Saturday. He symbolically handed over e-Khata certificates to beneficiaries and urged officials to improve the delivery of civic services.
Special e-Khata Drive from November 5 to 7
The Minister announced that the special e-Khata campaign would continue from November 5 to 7 and appealed to property owners to make use of the facility.
He also called for similar campaigns to be organised across all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to help property owners obtain their digital records without unnecessary delays.
Acknowledging that several civic issues remain unresolved within MCC limits, Yathindra Siddaramaiah assured that efforts would continue to address public grievances and improve service delivery.
He also directed officials to conduct a focused campaign for issuing building permits, following complaints about delays in the approval process.
MLA Tanveer Sait Questions Delay in Property Grievances
During the programme, MLA Tanveer Sait raised concerns over delays in resolving property-related grievances submitted by ordinary citizens.
He questioned why applications relating to private layouts handed over to the MCC by the Mysuru Development Authority (MDA) were reportedly being processed more quickly, while other property owners continued to face delays.
Addressing Regional Commissioner and MCC Administrator Nitesh Patil, the MLA urged officials to examine the differences in the processing of applications.
Tanveer Sait also reiterated his earlier demand that khatas for private layouts should be issued only after the necessary basic infrastructure and civic amenities are provided.
He further pointed out that applications seeking corrections to errors made by MCC officials while issuing khatas had remained pending for five to six months.
The MLA called for decentralising the process and continuing the e-Khata campaign at zonal offices to make services more accessible to residents.
MCC Processes 590 Applications from October 28 Camp
The MCC received 730 applications during the special e-Khata campaign conducted on October 28. Of these, 590 applications were processed, while 140 remained pending due to the non-availability of Encumbrance Certificates (ECs).
The campaign recorded an overall progress rate of 80.80%, according to the figures released by the civic body.
The zone-wise application processing details were as follows:
| MCC zone | Applications received | e-Khatas prepared |
|---|---|---|
| Zone 1 | 57 | 44 |
| Zone 2 | 136 | 99 |
| Zone 3 | 150 | 121 |
| Zone 4 | 47 | 45 |
| Zone 5 | 48 | 44 |
| Zone 6 | 44 | 36 |
| Zone 7 | 84 | 70 |
| Zone 8 | 73 | 67 |
| Zone 9 | 91 | 60 |
| Total | 730 | 590 |
The figures indicate that the civic body processed the majority of applications received during the special camp, while documentation-related issues continued to delay the remaining cases.
Officials Attend Special Programme
Several senior officials and public representatives attended the programme, including Zilla Panchayat CEO S. Ukesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, MCC Commissioner M.K. Savitha, former MLC Venugopal, KEA Chairman Ayub Khan, MCC Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee Chairperson Pushpavalli and former Mayor Arif Hussain.
With only around 38% of city properties having received e-Khatas, the upcoming campaign from November 5 to 7 is expected to provide another opportunity for property owners to complete the process.
The campaign also brings attention to the need for faster processing of applications, timely correction of property records and improved coordination between civic departments.
