Mysuru: Bilikere Police have arrested four people in connection with two separate theft cases, including two residents of Mysuru city, after allegedly recovering stolen property and vehicles used in the offences.
The arrests relate to separate incidents reported in Bettadur and Manuganahalli villages. According to police, the accused allegedly stole 14 new tyres worth ₹4 lakh in one case, while gold valuables worth ₹9 lakh were reportedly stolen from a house in the other case.
Two arrested over ₹4 lakh tyre theft
In the first case, police arrested Vivek, 30, and Ramu, 28, in connection with a theft reported at Bettadur village on August 9.
The duo allegedly stole 14 new tyres manufactured by Madras Rubber Factory (MRF), with the total value of the stolen tyres estimated at ₹4 lakh. Police said the tyres were transported using a goods vehicle after the alleged theft.
The vehicle allegedly used to transport the stolen tyres has also been seized by Bilikere Police as part of the investigation.
The police action followed an investigation into the theft reported in Bettadur. The recovery of the vehicle is expected to form part of the evidence being examined in the case.
Gold valuables worth ₹9 lakh stolen
In a separate case, police arrested two Kerala natives, identified as Vishnu Rajagopal and Akash, over the alleged theft of gold valuables from a house in Manuganahalli village.
According to the police, gold ornaments and other valuables worth around ₹9 lakh were reportedly stolen from the house.
Investigators also seized a car valued at approximately ₹4.5 lakh that was allegedly used in connection with the theft. The vehicle has been taken into police custody as part of the investigation.
The arrests in the two cases were made as Bilikere Police worked on separate theft complaints in the area. Police have described the cases as solved following the arrests and seizures.
Police investigate separate theft cases
The four arrests involve two separate cases and different sets of accused persons. Vivek and Ramu are accused in the Bettadur tyre theft case, while Vishnu Rajagopal and Akash have been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of gold valuables at Manuganahalli.
The police have seized the goods vehicle in the first case and the car in the second case. These seizures could help investigators establish how the alleged offences were carried out and whether the vehicles were directly connected to the thefts.
The reported value of the stolen property in the two cases totals around ₹13 lakh — ₹4 lakh worth of MRF tyres and ₹9 lakh worth of gold valuables.
However, the arrests and allegations do not by themselves establish guilt. The accused will face the legal process, while police investigations and subsequent court proceedings will determine the facts of the cases.
