Mysuru: Passengers travelling on a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus from Gudalur to Mysuru have raised concerns over the alleged transportation of excessive goods, claiming it compromised passenger comfort and safety.
According to passengers, the incident occurred on July 18 at around 3.13 pm, when the bus operating on the Gudalur–Mysuru route was reportedly loaded with a large quantity of goods, leaving commuters with limited space.
Passengers express concern
Commuters alleged that the volume of goods carried on the bus made it resemble a goods carrier rather than a passenger service. They claimed the luggage occupied significant space inside the vehicle, making travel uncomfortable.
Some passengers also questioned whether public transport buses should prioritise carrying commercial goods over ensuring adequate space and convenience for travellers.
Demand for action
Passengers have urged the KSRTC authorities to look into the matter and ensure that passenger buses are not overloaded with goods at the expense of commuter safety and comfort.
They have called for stricter enforcement of rules governing the transportation of luggage and commercial goods on public transport services.
KSRTC yet to respond
As of now, KSRTC has not issued an official statement regarding the allegations. News Karnataka has sought a response from the transport corporation. The report will be updated once an official clarification is received
