In a significant breakthrough against property crimes, Mysotre City Police have solved 104 cases in the last six months and recovered valuables and cash worth Rs 2.9 crore from 82 arrested accused.
The recovered items were returned to rightful owners during a property parade organised at the Commissioner of Police office on Wednesday. Commissioner of Police Seema Latkar appreciated the officers and presented certificates for their effective investigation and timely action.
Digital clues help crack key cases
Latkar highlighted three major cases solved using digital evidence and intelligence inputs. The National Intelligence Grid database helped police identify and arrest Venkata Reddy, accused in three house thefts in Kuvempu Nagar. He allegedly used digital maps to identify isolated houses in posh areas and broke in at night using crowbars. CCTV visuals played a crucial role in tracing him.
In another case, Vidyaranyapuram police arrested Kiran, an ITI college staff member, who allegedly stole valuables from a neighbour. A finance firm’s message regarding pledged gold alerted investigators. Police said he had allegedly taken a Rs 30 lakh loan and turned to crime to clear mounting debts.
Saraswathipuram police arrested Syed Alim, a former autorickshaw driver, for nine house break-ins. Nearly 69 cases, including 49 within the city, are pending against him. He was re-arrested after allegedly committing fresh offences while on bail.
Strong action under NDPS
Police also solved four extortion cases, two chain-snatching cases, 57 vehicle thefts and one robbery, along with 79 property thefts.
In 2026, 30 kg of ganja and 311 mg of synthetic drugs were seized in 22 NDPS cases. Sixteen accused involved in NDPS and goonda activities have been banished from the city since 2025.
Over six months, police recovered 2 kg gold, 5 kg silver and Rs 10 lakh cash, strengthening public trust in Mysotre’s law enforcement efforts.
