Mysuru: Member of the erstwhile royal family, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, has cautioned the public against misleading videos circulating on social media that allegedly promote a fraudulent land deal in her name. A cyber crime case has been registered in connection with the incident.

Fraudulent claims about prime land

In an official statement, Wadiyar said that certain miscreants are spreading false and misleading information via WhatsApp, using a video related to a 14-acre property located at Survey No. 4 in Kurubarahalli, Kasaba Hobli of Mysuru taluk.

She clarified that the land belongs to her and remains in her lawful possession. The property in question is situated near the iconic Lalitha Mahal Palace.

Matter under court consideration

Wadiyar further stated that a legal dispute concerning the land is currently pending before the Principal Senior Civil Judge and CJM court in Mysuru under OS No. 1400/2024. She noted that an interim order to maintain status quo regarding the nature and possession of the property is in force.

“The matter is sub judice, and any claims regarding its sale or development are completely baseless,” she emphasised.

False joint venture offer exposed

According to the statement, the viral video is accompanied by messages falsely claiming that the 14-acre land is being offered for a joint venture under her supervision. It also assures a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC), which she categorically denied.

Wadiyar warned that such claims are entirely fabricated and unauthorised. The message also allegedly seeks a refundable advance of Rs 20 crore from interested parties, which she described as a clear attempt to cheat unsuspecting individuals.

Cyber complaint registered

Terming the acts as fraud, misrepresentation and criminal deception, Wadiyar confirmed that a cyber police complaint has been filed. The case has been registered with relevant references, and investigations are underway to identify those responsible for the scam.

She added that the accused have misused her name and property details to gain unlawful benefits, thereby exploiting public trust.

Public advisory issued

Wadiyar has urged the general public to remain vigilant and avoid engaging in any transactions related to the said property based on such fraudulent communications.

She stressed that individuals should verify information through official channels before making any financial commitments, especially in high-value real estate deals.

Conclusion

The incident highlights the growing misuse of digital platforms for financial fraud and impersonation. Authorities are expected to take strict action against those involved, while the public has been advised to exercise caution and not fall prey to such deceptive schemes.
