Members of the University of Mysore Dalit Vidyarthigala Okkoota staged a protest at the Manasagangothri clock tower in Mysuru, vehemently opposing the diversion of funds meant for SC/ST development to government guarantee schemes.

During the demonstration held recently, protestors criticized the government, accusing the Congress Government of redirecting Rs. 25,000 crore allocated for SCP/TSP funds to fulfill financial requirements for guarantee schemes. They demanded that the government cease the fund transfer and allocate the funds for their intended purpose.

The protest also highlighted concerns over recent policy changes by the Social Welfare Department, particularly the increase in minimum scholarship eligibility marks for SC/ST students from 60 percent to 75 percent. Protestors questioned the compliance of state colleges with government directives regarding the exemption of admission fees for SC/ST students.

Warning against what they perceive as discriminatory policies targeting Dalit students, protestors cautioned the government of escalating their agitation if their demands are not addressed promptly.
