A significant visit unfolded on Monday as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and senior ministers embarked on a trip to the historic Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) dam.

The delegation began their journey from the government guest house in Mysuru, boarding a bus together for the ride to KRS. As the convoy prepared to depart, rain showers began falling—a moment many in the group considered an auspicious sign blessing the occasion.

Alongside the CM and DCM, prominent leaders accompanied the entourage. Ministers Chaluvarayaswamy, Mahadevappa, N.S. Bosaraju, and K. Venkatesh joined the trip, reflecting the significance of the event. Legislators including Ravi Shankar, K. Harish Gowda, Puttarangashetty, Cuddalore Uday, Ganiga Ravikumar, Tanvir Sait, and A.R. Krishnamurthy were also part of the delegation.

The KRS dam, an engineering marvel completed in 1931 across the Cauvery River, serves as the primary water source for irrigation and drinking water in the Old Mysore region. The dam has been in focus recently after it reached full capacity unusually early this monsoon season.

The ministers’ collective visit underscores the government’s commitment to water management and infrastructure maintenance. For many, the rain that welcomed the leaders as they set off was seen as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune for the region’s farmers and citizens.
