Mysuru: Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds lashed several parts of Mysuru and Mandya districts on Friday night, causing disruption and leading to uprooted trees and fallen branches in different areas. Rainfall activity was also reported from neighbouring districts including Chamarajanagar and Hassan.

According to rainfall data, Doora in Mysuru taluk recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 51 mm. Chikkankanahalli in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district recorded the state’s third-highest rainfall at 40 mm.

The intense rain and wind activity also caused damage to trees and created inconvenience in parts of Mysuru city.

Several areas record significant rainfall

Doora in Mysuru taluk recorded the highest rainfall in Karnataka with 51 mm of precipitation.

Chikkankanahalli in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district registered the state’s third-highest rainfall at 40 mm.

Rainfall was also recorded in neighbouring districts. Chikkati in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajanagar district received 30.5 mm of rainfall, making it one of the highest rainfall locations in the district.

Similarly, Gowdagere in Channarayapatna taluk of Hassan district recorded 23 mm rainfall.

Officials are continuing to monitor rainfall patterns across different regions.

Strong winds uproot trees in Mysuru

Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds caused damage in several residential localities in Mysuru city.

Several trees were uprooted while branches snapped and fell in Police Layout Second Stage, also known as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Nagar, and Third Stage, referred to as IPS K.R. Srinivas Nagar.

The sudden weather conditions resulted in obstruction in some areas and created difficulties for residents.

Authorities and local teams are expected to remove fallen trees and clear affected roads.

Tree branches fall in multiple residential areas

Within Mysuru City Corporation limits, tree branches reportedly fell in multiple locations following the heavy rain.

Authorities stated that branches from four to five trees fell in Alanahalli and Siddhartha Layout.

In addition, branches from one tree each fell in Kuvempunagar and JP Nagar.

No major injuries or casualties were immediately reported in connection with the incidents.

Officials continue to monitor the situation and assess any further impact caused by the weather conditions.
