MYSURU: Mysuru and surrounding regions are likely to experience cloudy weather and intermittent moderate to heavy rainfall until October 30, according to the Agro-Meteorological Field Unit (AMFU) of the Organic Farming Research Station, Naganahalli.

The forecast comes amid the development of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which was expected to intensify into a deep depression by October 25 and potentially develop into a cyclonic storm by the morning of October 26.

The weather system is likely to influence rainfall across parts of Karnataka, including Mysuru and other districts in the southern interior and coastal regions. Residents can expect changing weather conditions over the coming days, with the possibility of rain disrupting normal activities.

Mysuru records rainfall overnight

The Naganahalli station recorded 14 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on October 24. Moderate rain also lashed Mysuru from late Friday night into Saturday morning, disrupting normal life to some extent.

The rainfall comes during a period of active post-monsoon weather across southern India. Cloud cover and intermittent showers are expected to continue in Mysuru and neighbouring areas, according to the forecast issued by the agricultural meteorological unit.

Rainfall intensity may vary across locations, and residents should follow subsequent weather bulletins for updated information.

Rain expected across southern Karnataka

The forecast indicates that Mysuru and other parts of South Interior Karnataka may experience cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall until October 30. Coastal districts are also expected to receive rain during the period.

The evolving weather system over the Bay of Bengal is one of the factors being monitored by meteorological agencies. Its intensity and movement will influence the distribution and strength of rainfall across the region.

The India Meteorological Department’s district-level forecasts provide additional guidance on expected rainfall and weather warnings. As conditions can change, residents are advised to monitor official updates rather than rely solely on a single forecast.

Residents advised to remain cautious

Continued rainfall can affect road travel, outdoor activities and daily routines, particularly during periods of heavier showers. Motorists should exercise caution on wet roads and remain alert to reduced visibility and slippery surfaces.

Residents in areas prone to waterlogging should monitor local conditions and avoid travelling through flooded stretches. Farmers and people working outdoors should also keep track of weather advisories while planning their activities.

The forecast of rain through October 30 highlights the need for continued monitoring as the Bay of Bengal system develops. The intensity and duration of rainfall will depend on the system’s subsequent movement and the latest meteorological assessments.

Residents are advised to check updates issued by the India Meteorological Department and local authorities for the latest district-specific forecasts and warnings.
