Mysuru: Ranveer Singh visited the Chamundeshwari Temple on Tuesday morning to offer prayers, days after renewed attention on the actor’s past controversy linked to the Kantara mimicry incident and ongoing professional tensions.

The visit, which was reportedly kept low-profile, comes at a time when the actor is also facing a non-cooperation directive issued by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees following disputes connected to his exit from Don 3.

Temple visit follows court directive

According to reports, the visit is linked to proceedings in the Karnataka High Court, where Ranveer Singh had earlier submitted an unconditional apology in connection with the Kantara mimicry controversy.

The court had observed that the matter could be disposed of after compliance and directed the actor to visit the Chamundeshwari Temple within a stipulated period as part of the proceedings.

The actor reportedly followed the directive and performed prayers at the temple premises, including entering the sanctum for rituals.

Kantara controversy and backlash

The controversy originated after Ranveer Singh was seen imitating a scene from Kantara during a public event at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

The act triggered strong reactions from sections of the Kannada community, who viewed the imitation of sacred elements from the film as insensitive.

Following the backlash, the actor issued a public apology, stating that he intended only to appreciate the performance and had no intention of disrespecting any culture or belief.

Director and actor Rishab Shetty later commented on the issue, emphasising that the “Daiva” tradition depicted in Kantara holds deep cultural and spiritual significance and should not be imitated casually.

Legal proceedings and interim relief

An FIR had been filed earlier against Ranveer Singh in relation to the incident, after which he approached the Karnataka High Court seeking relief.

At that time, the court directed authorities not to take coercive action against him while proceedings were underway.

The matter has since seen multiple developments, including revised affidavits and legal submissions, before the recent court-linked temple visit directive.

Parallel professional tensions in film industry

The actor’s temple visit also comes amid industry-level tensions involving the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, which recently issued a non-cooperation directive against him.

The directive reportedly relates to ongoing disagreements connected to film production issues, including the fallout surrounding Don 3.

Ranveer Singh’s team has maintained that the actor remains focused on his professional commitments and prefers not to engage publicly in disputes, reiterating respect for all stakeholders involved.

Actor maintains silence amid controversy

The actor was reportedly seen travelling early in the morning before his visit and maintained a low public profile throughout the temple visit.

Sources suggest he entered the temple premises with minimal public attention, covering his face until reaching the inner sanctum.

The development adds another layer to the ongoing public discussion around the actor’s recent controversies, legal compliance, and professional challenges.
