Mysuru: MLA and former minister Tanveer Sait has set up a helpdesk in his Narasimharaja (NR) Assembly constituency to assist voters with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The initiative is aimed at helping voters respond to notices relating to discrepancies identified in the draft electoral roll and ensuring that eligible voters take the necessary steps to retain their names in the final voters’ list.
NR constituency records highest discrepancies
K C Showkath Pasha, vice-president of the Mysuru district (city) Congress, said the number of electors with logical discrepancies is highest in the NR constituency among the three Assembly segments in Mysuru city.
According to Pasha, 21,685 electors in the NR constituency have been identified under the logical discrepancies category. The corresponding figures are 18,114 in Chamaraja and 7,595 in Krishnaraja.
Pasha, who is also a former corporator and former Opposition leader in the Mysuru City Corporation, said a total of 47,394 voters from the draft electoral roll are likely to receive notices regarding logical discrepancies for various reasons.
The discrepancies will have to be clarified by the concerned voters before the final electoral roll is prepared.
Voters asked to submit documents
Pasha said voters who receive notices should respond by providing appropriate proof or supporting documents to the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO), Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), or the special officers appointed or nominated for the process.
According to him, voters have two months from August 24 to clarify the discrepancies.
“Only then, the final voters’ list will be published,” Pasha said.
The clarification process is therefore important for voters whose names have been flagged in the draft roll. Those receiving notices are expected to examine the details and submit the required documents within the stipulated period.
Notices may arrive through SMS or WhatsApp
Pasha urged voters to remain alert for communication from election authorities.
He said notices regarding discrepancies could be sent through WhatsApp messages or SMS. In some cases, the notices may also be delivered personally by Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
Voters have been advised not to ignore such communications.
Pasha cautioned that failure to respond to a notice could result in the voter’s name being excluded from the final electoral roll if the discrepancy remains unresolved.
He urged eligible voters to check their mobile phones regularly and respond to any communication received from the election authorities.
Helpdesk to assist voters
The helpdesk established by Tanveer Sait is intended to provide assistance to voters who need support during the SIR process.
Voters who require help in understanding the notices, identifying the necessary documents or completing the process can approach the helpdesk, according to Pasha.
The facility is particularly significant in the NR constituency, which has the highest number of electors identified with logical discrepancies among the three Mysuru city constituencies.
The initiative seeks to ensure that voters do not lose their place on the electoral roll due to a failure to understand or respond to the revision process.

Pasha appealed to voters to take the notices seriously and complete the clarification process within the stipulated two-month period beginning August 24.
He also stressed that voters should keep the necessary documents ready and approach the relevant election officials or the helpdesk if they require assistance.
