Mysuru: Three former ministers and close confidants of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah — H C Mahadevappa, K Venkatesh and Tanveer Sait — held a meeting in Mysuru on Tuesday to discuss developments within the Congress party.
Leaders discuss Mysuru’s Cabinet representation
The leaders clarified that the meeting was not against the party, but was aimed at discussing recent developments and concerns within the organisation.
They expressed disappointment over Mysuru district having only one legislator included in the Cabinet led by Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar. The leaders said they discussed where things had gone wrong and wanted to understand the reasons behind the district’s limited representation.
Urban Development Minister S Yathindra later met the three former ministers.
Leaders highlight community representation
Speaking to reporters, MLA Tanveer Sait said the three leaders had never previously held such a meeting despite belonging to the same party.
He pointed out that the leaders represent different communities. Sait represents the minority community, Venkatesh the Vokkaliga community and Mahadevappa the Dalit community.
Sait said they were not convinced that everything was satisfactory following the latest Cabinet expansion. He added that the leaders would discuss the issue with senior party leaders and convey their concerns.
“We are sending a message to the party with this meeting,” Sait said.
The meeting comes amid discussions within the Congress over Cabinet representation and a possible reshuffle, with the leaders signalling that Mysuru’s political representation remains a matter of concern.
