A horrific accident late Sunday night on the Gonikoppa-Mysuru Main Road near Thithimathi resulted in the death of two individuals and left one critically injured. The accident occurred around 10 pm when Sannuvanda Jaya (48) from Hebbale and Sanath (26) from Devarapura, along with their companion M.N. Harish (36), were standing on the roadside after returning from the Hanuma Jayanti celebrations in Thithimathi.
Details of the Accident
The victims had stopped their bike on a sloping stretch of road near Jaya’s house when an over-speeding jeep collided with them, killing Jaya and Sanath instantly. The collision was so severe that Jaya’s head was severed and flung about 90 feet away, requiring an hour-long search to recover it. Harish sustained critical injuries, including major leg fractures and head trauma, and was rushed to a private hospital in Mysuru for treatment.
The jeep, driven by Siddu (35) from Kolthodu-Baigodu, crashed into a roadside fence after the impact. Siddu, also injured, was taken into custody and is receiving treatment at a hospital in Gonikoppa.

Investigation and Aftermath
Passersby, who witnessed the aftermath of the crash, immediately alerted authorities and helped in transporting Harish to the hospital. A case has been registered at the Gonikoppa Police Station, and investigations are ongoing. The bodies of Jaya and Sanath were sent for post-mortem at the Gonikoppa Community Health Centre and later cremated at Thithimathi.
Authorities, including District Additional Superintendent of Police Sundar Raj and Gonikoppa Circle Inspector Shivaraj Mudhol, conducted a site inspection. The incident has shocked the local community, with many expressing their grief over the tragic loss.
