Nanjangud: Forest officials have successfully captured a leopard that was hiding in an abandoned house. A youth who attempted to take a selfie with the captured leopard was attacked. The injured youth has been admitted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru. This incident occurred in Yalahalli village of Nanjangud taluk.
The leopard, which had been preying on domestic animals, was hiding in an abandoned house belonging to Mahadevappa. Villagers, who had completely sealed off the dilapidated house to prevent the leopard from escaping, informed the Forest Department officials. A team led by Zonal Forest Officer Nitin Kumar and Janardhana rushed to the spot. They conducted a four-hour operation to capture the leopard, successfully tranquilizing and capturing it.
During this time, a local youth Jayashankar attempted to take a selfie with the captured leopard. The leopard attacked and injured the youth. The injured youth has been admitted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru.
The captured male leopard is currently receiving treatment at the nursery in Nanjangud.
RFO Nitin Kumar, Janardhana, Chetan Kumar, and other Forest Department officials and staff participated in the operation.
