Monthly assistance for graduates and diploma holders

Under the Yuva Nidhi scheme, eligible unemployed degree holders receive financial assistance of Rs 3,000 per month, while diploma holders are entitled to Rs 1,500 per month.

The scheme is intended to provide temporary financial support to young people as they look for employment or explore opportunities to improve their career prospects.

Of the 19,547 candidates registered in Mysuru district, 17,790 received benefits. The department has released Rs 47.7 crore for distribution of the monthly assistance since the scheme began operating in the district.

Verification removes ineligible beneficiaries

The department is conducting periodic monthly verification to ensure that financial assistance reaches only eligible candidates. During these checks, officials identified and removed 5,322 beneficiaries who no longer qualified for the scheme, nearly two years after their registration.

Among those excluded were 13 income taxpayers. The department also stopped assistance to 1,936 degree holders after they continued their higher education.

Another 785 diploma holders were removed from the beneficiary list after securing employment.

The verification exercise is aimed at identifying candidates whose circumstances have changed since registration and preventing the continuation of payments to those who are no longer eligible.

Monthly self-declaration mandatory

Speaking to The Times of India, district skill development officer Manjunath said department officials were strictly implementing the monthly verification process to identify and remove ineligible beneficiaries.

Registered candidates are required to submit a monthly self-declaration to continue receiving financial assistance. The declaration helps the department verify whether applicants continue to meet the eligibility conditions.

The exercise is particularly important for a scheme designed to support unemployed young people, as beneficiaries may secure jobs, pursue higher education or otherwise become ineligible after registering.

Scheme continues to support unemployed youth

The Yuva Nidhi scheme has provided financial assistance to thousands of young people in Mysuru district since its launch. With 17,790 candidates having received benefits and Rs 47.7 crore released for assistance, the programme has emerged as a significant support initiative for eligible unemployed graduates and diploma holders.

At the same time, the department’s verification measures seek to ensure that the assistance remains focused on those who continue to meet the scheme’s conditions.
