‘Appearance of Varicose Veins do not have specific reason’

Mangaluru: Thank You Karnataka is a series of programmes organised to celebrate decennial year of NewsKarnataka and thus thank Kannadigas all over the globe for supporting the Spearhead Media Group to achieve this milestone.

One of the programme under Thank You Karnataka series is Arogya Manthana, a show on health which is aired every Monday. The topic this week was ‘Varicose veins and laser treatment’.

The guest of the seventh episode aired on November 7 is Dr. Satish Bhat, consultant plastic and cosmetic surgeon. The anchor person for the programme is Dr. Anuradha K. C. of Kakunje Ayurvedic Wellness Clinic, Moodabidri.

The programme was premiered on NewsKarnataka.com’s YouTube Channel.

Dr. Satish Bhat shared, “My brothers background in Medicine along side mountaineering training at school instilled the interest towards the field and enhanced the leadership quality within me.”

Doctor explained, “What is Varicose veins and its symptoms. He also shared laser treatment to be an effective solution to the disease.

“Appearance of Varicose Veins do not have a specific reason. It can be hereditary, out of pregnancy or due to over weight or can also be due to aging,” he said.

It is a mechanical problem and so medication through injections or tablets is not possible. A mechanical solution is essential, he opined. Through laser treatment internal leakage in the nerves will the sealed, doctor said.

Dr. Satish Bhat also stressed, ‘Laser treatment is not an ultimate solution, as aging of our body is constant. And so physical exercise like walking will act as supplementary to laser treatment.”

Speaking on side-effects of laser treatment he said, “Like any other medication, this too is not free from side-effects. The risk of bleeding and infection exist as a caution, but less than five out of hundred are vulnerable to these factors.”

Expressing the available quality of life in Mangaluru, Dr. Satish Bhat pointed it as a reason for his reverse migration to home town from the City of Mumbai.
