Dubai: The first episode of Nine Days Christmas Carols, organised by Spearhead Media Pvt Ltd. (parent company of NewsKarnataka.com) on the occasion of the Christmas season, was held on Friday, December 18.
The show was compered by main programme host CA Valerian Dalmaida and co-host Rajesh Sequeira live from Dubai.
Two carol singing teams were featured during the show: Lanisha and Delisha Vaz from London, UK and Beverly Jessica D’souza and Team, Bliss of Cecilia from Mangaluru. The judges for the show were Rohan Correa, a musician and one of the founders of Konkani Prayer Group, and Rupert Vaz, a renowned singer who has been working in Abu Dhabi for the past 20 years and is a member and coordinator of the St. Joseph Konkani Prayer Group.
During the show, both the judges watched the videos submitted by the teams. Speaking about the team from London, the judges said that the combination, timing and tempo of the song were perfectly executed and there were no mistakes in the video.
About the second team from Mangaluru, the judges said that the attempt was good but the singing and music were out of synch with each other. They then wished them the best.
Towards the end, the host thanked the judges and the teams for their participation and signed off.
The contest will continue till December 24 and the winner will be awarded a cash prize of INR 9,000, whereas the runner will receive INR 6,000 and the second runner will get INR 3,000 cash prize.
