Dubai: The dawning of Navaratri celebrations is marked by a unique and colourful dance festival which is conducted among the Gujarati families in India. The Parajiya Soni Events Management company however took the traditional Dandiya dance form to an international platform at the Wonderland Park in Garhoud, Dubai.
It is not the first time that Dandiya dance form was celebrated in Dubai, the Parajiya Soni Events Management company has been organizing this event every year for the past 51 years. The cultural extravaganza was organized throughout the nine days of Goddess Durga worship and saw a tremendous 211 participants from Dubai.
The Parajiya Soni community in the United Arab Emirates has been involving as many Indians as possible in their Dandiya event. Dilip Soni and Natwar Dhakan, the Vice Presidents, Hasumukh Dhanak the President, Secretary Hiren Sagar, member P H Dhakan of the Parajiya Soni community and Shabbir Rokadia, former President of Gujarati Samaj hosted the event as always. The PR of the event was managed by Ovilia Fernandes and Girish Sagar photographed the event.
Over a period of nine day, the event saw an average audience turn up of three thousand people on weekdays and nearly eight thousand on weekends. There were typical Gujarati number played to which the participants danced away to glory.
Competitions were also conducted by the organizers based on the best dance, perfect couple, best dress and more. Throughout the nine days, the organizers gave away 60 prizes to the winners in these categories. Apart from that, there were 14 winners and all the participants won were awarded for participating and giving a good show.
